At Thorngumbald Primary School, we believe that every child should have the opportunity throughout Key Stage 2 to study a Modern Foreign Language in a way that is enjoyable and stimulating.  We want to provide opportunities for our children to learn about, and foster an interest in, another language and culture other than their own and to be able to recognise cultural differences in a positive way.  We strive to embed the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing which are the necessary foundations to support their future language learning.  This will enable them to develop personal qualities, skills, knowledge and understanding, and will make a major contribution to their communication and literacy skills.

At Thorngumbald Primary School, we follow the iLanguages scheme of work which provides a range of resources to target all learning styles and helps keep the children engaged and enjoying their lessons.
