Dear Parent/Carer

This year, for World Book Day on Thursday 05th March, the theme is ‘Down the Rabbit Hole’ based on the famous story ‘Alice in Wonderland’ by Lewis Carroll.  Throughout the day children will take part in different activities based around the story – with opportunities to write, read parts of the book and create pieces of artwork based on the story of Alice.  We would like to encourage the children to dress as a character from the story.  To help, here are some ideas:

  • Alice
  • Mad Hatter
  • Queen of Hearts
  • White rabbit
  • Cheshire Cat
  • Tweedle Dee & Tweedle Dum
  • Playing Cards
  • Caterpillar
  • March Hare
  • Dodo
  • The Doormouse
  • Frog Footman

We appreciate that costumes can often take a lot of time and effort and we also completely understand that costumes can be expensive and hard to find. Not only that, but we also understand that some children don’t like dressing up as much as others do! So something simple e.g. cat ears or some face paint or even just something odd and strange or bright and colourful would work perfectly – as everything is weird and wonderful ‘down the rabbit hole’.

Some classes may also be watching the most recent film, which is rated as a PG.  If you don’t wish your child to take part in this or see the film, then please contact your child’s class teacher or the office to let us know.

Thank – you so much for your support, we look forward to seeing your fantastic outfits and to celebrating one of the most well-known stories.

’We’re all mad here!’

Kind regards

Mrs Clark
