Mental Health and Wellbeing
At Thorngumbald Primary School we care deeply about the mental health and wellbeing of our pupils. We know that when children feel happy, safe, and supported, they are better able to learn, build confidence, and develop important life skills.
Just like physical health, mental health can change over time, and we want to help children understand their emotions and develop positive coping strategies. We take part in World Mental Health Day and Mental Health Awareness Week, as well as running a wide range of activities throughout the year to support wellbeing.
What We Offer
We provide different levels of support to meet the needs of all our children, including:
- Whole-class wellbeing activities.
- Small group sessions for emotions, anxiety, self-esteem, and social skills.
- One-to-one support with our Pastoral Team.

- One-to-One Mentoring sessions.
- Drawing and Talking Therapy.
- Lego Therapy.
- Social Skills and Friendship Groups.

Our Commitment
We want every child to feel valued, supported, and understood. Mental health is just as important as physical health, and we are committed to creating a nurturing, welcoming environment where every child can thrive.
By promoting positive mental health, we help children build resilience, support their peers, and develop a positive mindset. Our school values underpin everything we do, ensuring that wellbeing is at the heart of our school community.
