The intent of our Computing curriculum is to equip children with the relevant skills and knowledge that is required to understand the four core areas of Computing (Computer Science, Information Technology, Digital Literacy & Online Safety) and to start building fundamental computing skills needed for the future.

At Thorngumbald, our curriculum strives to create learners that are independent, creative and resilient by giving space for children to become ‘computational thinkers’, tackling complex problems and learning from their mistakes. Our curriculum aims to teach them a multitude of skills preparing them for the demands of the 21st century and creating a foundation of knowledge they can carry forwards into their future education and career. As well as teaching important computational skills, our curriculum strives to teach children about being good digital citizens and how to stay safe and keep others safe online. We also want children to become digital creators, using technology to support other areas of their work and lives, and also to understand the responsibilities of being digital consumers on their time, relationships and wellbeing.

Ultimately, the intent of our Computing curriculum is to inspire, engage and enthuse children to develop a love of Computing.
