Curriculum Termly Overview
At Thorngumbald Primary, our school ensures our children receive a broad, balanced and in depth curriculum which promotes their spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development using the National Curriculum and East Riding of Yorkshire RE syllabus. Our exciting curriculum is designed to make links with and promote our school values which are: aspiration, achievement, collaboration, perseverance and respect.
With this in mind, we have created a curriculum that ensures we meet the needs of all our pupils, a curriculum that - where needed – is thematically organised but also allows for discreet subjects to be taught. Therefore, we aim to promote high aspirations, where children are resilient and understand the importance of independence, challenge and perseverance. As a school, we aim to teach our children about our local history and area – to encourage respect and pride towards each other and our community.
We provide our pupils with opportunities to master and build on key skills throughout their primary years and to help them recognise their own unique strengths. Our engaging curriculum aims to prepare the children for each step in their educational journey by ensuring that we enable them to become team players, life-long learners and responsible citizens – preparing them for their future.
