Working Together – Our Open Door Approach

At Thorngumbald Primary, we know that children thrive when home and school work closely together. We truly value our relationships with parents and carers and believe that open, honest communication helps every child succeed.

We operate an open-door policy and encourage you to get in touch if you ever have a question, concern, or something to celebrate. Our staff are here to listen, to help, and to work with you in finding the best way forward.

We do our best to make sure that teachers are available on the school gates each morning and afternoon, providing a friendly face and an easy opportunity to share quick messages or raise small concerns. You can also contact staff directly through Class Dojo, where teachers, Mrs Clark (as SENDCO), and myself (as Headteacher) are all available to respond.

Our office team are always happy to help and are based at the front desk during the school day. You’ll often find me there too — particularly at pick-up and drop-off times — as I value those everyday conversations that help us stay connected.

Usually, your child’s class teacher will be the best person to speak to first, as they know your child best and can often resolve things quickly. If further support is needed, other members of our team — including phase leaders, the SENDCo, or senior leaders — are always happy to help.

We want every family to feel welcomed, supported, and confident that we’ll work together to make school a positive and nurturing experience for your child.
